Starting on January 10, 2022, all elderly adults (over 60) with co-morbidities and front-line healthcare staff will have access to booster doses, booster shots, or precautionary doses. A booster dosage, booster shot, or precautionary dose must be administered exactly like the first two doses of the vaccination. Therefore, if a person has received two doses of the Covishield vaccine, they will only receive a third booster dose of Covishield. The eligible residents may walk-in or schedule an appointment to receive their booster dosage, booster shot, or precautionary dose at any immunisation facility.

Who is eligible for taking Booster Dose or Booster Shots or Precautionary dose?

The Indian government determines who qualifies for booster doses, booster shots, or precautionary doses depending on the date the second dosage was entered into the Cowin system.
